CARROLL
HOUSE RESTORATION: VISION 2006
With
MILLIONS million still needed to complete this restoration,
what is the future and how do we tell the story? In the
year 2006, Carroll House will celebrate its tricentennial
for Charles Carroll the Settler settling the site as his
New World home for the Carroll family.
The
goals of the Carroll House Restoration by 2006 are to
provide America with the completed preservation and restoration
of the Carroll family Annapolis waterfront home, outbuildings
and gardens featuring:
- Educational
and cultural programs and exhibits bringing history
alive to the public by interpreting 18th century colonial
and Revolutionary-era life from the social, religious
and political elite to the presence of the indentured
and African American slaves;
- A
RESTORATION-IN-PROGRESS becomes a learning lab, hands-on-resource
and world-wide interactive library
- An
accredited professional museum site founded on financial
self-sufficiency.
The
benefits of the Carroll House project to attract and develop
new and diverse regional and national audiences will successfully
contribute to our understanding Maryland's historical
impact and place within the history of our nation.
With this investment, we all have the opportunity to participate
in the preservation of the home of one of the founding
fathers of America.
The
Charles Carroll House of Annapolis, Inc., a 501(c)(3)
not-for-profit organization, exists as a historic structure,
an urban landscape, and a research library. This educational
institution is committed to excellence in preservation,
stewardship, scholarship and interpretation of the historic
evidence which will foster appreciation and understanding
of the world of Charles Carroll, 1706-1832, especially
Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland signer of the
Declaration of Independence, who fought to insure the
right of freedom of conscience for all Americans.
